Galaxy Types

Galaxies are vast collections of stars, gas, and dust held together by gravity. They come in various shapes and sizes, with three main types:

Spiral

Spiral galaxies are characterized by their distinctive rotating disc with spiral arms curving out from a dense central region

Elliptical

Elliptical galaxies have a smooth, ellipsoidal shape without distinct structural features

Irregular

Irregular galaxies lack a defined shape and do not fit into the spiral or elliptical categories
